About the Department

The Corporate Sustainability Office oversees and drives UOB’s sustainability strategy and roadmap, aligned to the Bank’s vision and embedded in the business strategy. It ensures that the sustainability strategy pillars and objectives are operationalised and implemented through actionable and measurable plans and initiatives by functions across the Group.

Job Responsibilities

Net Zero Strategy & Implementation

  • Support the continued development and execution of the Bank’s net zero operationalization, including monitoring and tracking towards sectoral pathways.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to continue to integrate net zero objectives into business strategies and operations.

 

ESG Risk Assessment & Governance

  • Evaluate high-risk ESG transactions, providing comprehensive insights and strategic recommendations to mitigate potential risks.
  • Enhance ESG risk assessment frameworks, ensuring they meet and exceed international standards and regulatory requirements.

 

Stakeholder Engagement & Capacity Building

  • Engage with internal teams to promote ESG awareness and integrate sustainability considerations into decision-making processes.
  • Provide training and resources to enhance ESG competencies across the organization.

 

Regulatory Compliance & Industry Collaboration

  • Monitor emerging ESG regulations and industry trends, advising on implications for the Bank.
  • Participate in industry forums and working groups to stay abreast of best practices and contribute to policy development.

 

Business Unit Partnership

  • Collaborate with business units to identify and manage sustainability risks and opportunities.
  • Support the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives in collaboration with external stakeholders.

 

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Prepare detailed sustainability-related reporting, including data analysis for submission to regulatory bodies and stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and transparency.

 

Strategy Development

  • Contribute to the development of long-term sustainability strategies, aligning them with the overall business objectives of the Bank.
  • Identify innovative approaches to enhance the Bank's sustainability performance and competitive advantage.

Job Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in the banking and finance industry with a keen interest in sustainability;
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of sustainable finance market developments and opportunities;
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate in a clear and structured manner;
  • Experience influencing and motivating stakeholders; and
  • Self-motivated and strong interpersonal skills; able to work independently.
