Activities

The LNG Negotiator role provides the opportunity to step into a highly influential position within our global energy activities, placing you at the centre of shaping the company’s long‑term LNG ambitions and contributing directly to major commercial outcomes with multi‑billion‑dollar impact. As part of our Gas, Renewables & Power Branch – GRP/LNG/LTMO Division, you will operate at the heart of the global LNG value chain, where your work will play a pivotal role in advancing our long‑term strategic vision and directly influencing commercial decisions in one of the world’s fastest‑expanding energy segments.


As an LNG Negotiator, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting deep‑dive market analyses using advanced analytical tools to identify trends, risks, and emerging opportunities within the LNG sector.
  • Preparing market studies on customer segments, geographical areas, and competitor positioning to strengthen the entity’s marketing strategy.
  • Building and nurturing strategic relationships with potential customers to enhance the company’s negotiation posture.
  • Developing business proposals, Term Sheets, Heads of Agreement, and Sales & Purchase Agreements, backed by the necessary internal mandates.
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and negotiating complex contractual clauses while preparing internal committees for mandate validation.
  • Engaging internal stakeholders (Legal, Trading, Economists, Credit teams) to ensure alignment and seamless negotiation.
  • Maintaining open communication with the Country Chair and, where relevant, E&P and M&A teams regarding prospect status.
  • A complete LNG SPA negotiation typically takes 6–12 months. On average, each LNG Negotiator will review 5–10 opportunities per year.

Candidate Profile

Educational Background

  • Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or similar fields.
  • Certifications in energy management or international business are a plus.
  • Solid understanding of global energy markets and the technical, financial, economic, and legal aspects of contracts.


Professional Experience

  • 5–10 years of negotiation experience in LNG Trading, SPA contract management, gas markets, or similarly complex and high‑value procurement environments.
  • Proven success in high‑stakes negotiations and risk mitigation.


Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship‑building abilities.
  • Proven track record of successful negotiations in high-stakes environments, with the ability to manage complex contracts and mitigate risks. 5-10 years’ experience in negotiations of gas or LNG or similar environment or of large procurement contracts is necessary.
  • Ability to innovate and think creatively when developing commercial solutions.
  • High resilience, patience, and excellent listening skills.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written). French would be an advantage.
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively in international settings.


Mobility

  • Willingness to travel frequently and respond to short‑notice requests for face‑to‑face meetings around the world.
