Group Technology has a strategic intent to develop the next generation of intelligent, autonomous networks leveraging AI/ML at scale. AI/ML is expected to be foundational in transforming Service Planning, Service Assurance, and Network Operations into predictive, self-optimizing, and self-healing systems.

As a Senior Lead Architect, the role extends beyond strategy definition into enterprise-wide, regional-wide leadership, governance, and execution oversight. The position holder is accountable for defining, institutionalising, and scaling AI/ML architecture, platforms, and operating models across Singtel Group and Opcos. This includes driving measurable business outcomes, embedding AI-first principles, and enabling long-term competitive advantage aligned with the Singtel28 strategic vision and beyond.

The role reports to the Senior Director - Group Strategy, Engineering, and Innovation (GSEI)/Network Services Development (NSD), and serves as a key advisor to senior leadership, influencing investment priorities, technology directions, and transformation initiatives across Group Networks.

Enterprise AI/ML Strategy, Governance, and Execution

This role is a senior technical authority responsible for shaping and governing AI/ML strategy across Group Networks. The position holder will lead large-scale transformation programs, ensuring alignment across Opcos, and driving adoption of standardized architectures, platforms, and best practices.

The role requires deep expertise in AI/ML technologies, strong business acumen, and the ability to influence stakeholders at executive levels while ensuring delivery excellence.

AI/ML Strategy & Enterprise Architecture Leadership

• Define and own the end-to-end AI/ML strategy, reference architecture, and multi-year roadmap for Group Networks.
• Establish enterprise-wide AI/ML architectural standards, frameworks, and governance models.
• Drive evolution from siloed automation initiatives to unified, AI-native network operations.
• Align AI/ML strategy with Autonomous Network (AN) strategy, KPIs, value pool outcomes, and transformation objectives.
• Act as the ultimate design authority for AI/ML architecture decisions across domains.

Executive Leadership & Stakeholder Influence

• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives across Group Technology and Opcos.
• Influence investment decisions, technology directions, vendor strategies, and ecosystem partnerships.
• Lead cross-Opco alignment to ensure consistency in AI/ML adoption and execution.
• Represent Singtel in industry forums, partnerships, and strategic collaborations.

Technical Direction, Innovation & Platform

• Lead the design and adoption of scalable AI/ML platforms, including Agentic, GenAI and advanced analytics ecosystems.
• Drive platform-based approaches (AI platforms, MLOps platforms, data platforms) to enable reuse and scalability.
• Champion innovation in areas such as autonomous networks, AI agents, and cognitive operations.
• Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to maintain technological leadership.

AI/ML Delivery Oversight & Value Realisation

• Oversee execution of AI/ML programs across Opcos and domains (RAN, Core, Transport, OSS, etc.).
• Ensure delivery of measurable outcomes such as cost optimisation, performance improvement, and customer experience enhancement.
• Establish KPIs, metrics, and governance mechanisms to track value realization.

Data & AI Platform Strategy

• Align enterprise data strategy to support AI/ML at scale, including data architecture, governance, and lifecycle management.
• Define appropriate standard data models and ontologies (based on TM Forum and other standardisation bodies) in support of AI/ML development
• Drive adoption of unified data standards, ensuring interoperability across Opcos.

Thought Leadership & Industry Positioning

• Provide forward-looking insights on AI/ML trends and their impact on telecom networks.
• Publish whitepapers, contribute to standards bodies, and represent Singtel externally.
• Establish Singtel as a leader in AI-driven network transformation.

Expertise in AI/ML Technologies and Practices:

• Advanced knowledge of Generative AI (GenAI), including LLMs, SLMs, RAG, prompt engineering, AI agents, and copilots.
• Deep understanding of ML paradigms: supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement learning, symbolic AI, and neural AI.
• Strong experience with AI/MLOps, including lifecycle management, CI/CD, observability, governance, and scaling.
• Familiarity with distributed AI systems, cloud-native architectures, and edge AI deployments.

Data and Analytics Expertise:

• Enterprise data architecture, including data lakes, lakehouses, and real-time data platforms.
• Data engineering: feature engineering, EDA, pipeline design, and optimization.
• Data governance: policies, compliance, security, and quality frameworks.
• Data exposure: APIs, streaming (Kafka), and modern storage (SQL, NoSQL, vector databases).

Other Roles and Responsibilities:

• Drive cross-functional transformation across Networks, IT, and Business Units.
• Lead vendor and partner ecosystem strategy for AI/ML solutions.
• Ensure alignment between technology innovation and operational excellence.

Skills for Success

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field. Advanced degrees preferred.
• 10–15+ years of experience in AI/ML, data, or software engineering.
• Proven track record of leading large-scale, enterprise-wide AI/ML transformations.
• Experience operating at senior leadership or enterprise architect level.
• Strong experience in telecom/network domains preferred.
• Strong strategic thinking with ability to translate vision into execution.
• Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
• Deep technical expertise combined with business and financial acumen.
• Excellent communication skills, including executive-level presentations.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
