Position Summary

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Domain Architect is responsible for analyzing and translating complex business needs and technical requirements into a comprehensive architectural blueprint for Artificial Intelligence solutions. This role owns the full lifecycle of the Artificial Intelligence ecosystem, including architectural design, technology selection, integration, governance, and long-term sustainability.

You will provide technical leadership, guide engineering teams, drive adoption of advanced Artificial Intelligence technologies (including agent-based Artificial Intelligence systems), and ensure that all Artificial Intelligence solutions are scalable, secure, compliant with international regulations such as the European Union Artificial Intelligence Act and aligned with Rolls-Royce Power Systems’ strategic direction.

This is a key position in shaping the organization’s future in digital and Artificial Intelligence technologies.

What you will be doing:

1. Ownership of Artificial Intelligence Architecture

• Take full ownership and provide functional leadership over critical components of the Artificial Intelligence technology stack.
• Ensure that all architectural decisions support the strategic objectives of Rolls-Royce Power Systems and enable successful delivery of Artificial Intelligence initiatives.

2. Adoption of Agent-Based Artificial Intelligence

• Drive enterprise-wide adoption of agent-based Artificial Intelligence within the software and Artificial Intelligence lifecycle.
• Ensure that all employees affected by new Artificial Intelligence technologies receive the necessary enablement and training.

3. Design and Maintenance of Scalable Artificial Intelligence Architectures

• Develop, implement, and maintain scalable Artificial Intelligence architectures that can operate across edge environments, cloud environments, and on-premises environments.
• Build robust technical frameworks to support seamless integration and communication among Artificial Intelligence products and services.

4. Technical Guidance and Leadership

• Guide internal and external developers, providing clear technical direction to resolve dependencies, manage interfaces, and remove impediments that slow down development.
• Serve as the technical advisor for product owners, providing expert input on requirements, planning, and solution design.

5. Collaboration with Product and Shared Services Teams

• Work closely with product owners, design teams, and shared services teams to ensure that all Artificial Intelligence components are aligned with business objectives and technical requirements.
• Provide architectural consulting and ensure that technical solutions are feasible, sustainable, and future proof.

6. Participation in Agile Delivery Processes

• Actively participate in agile development processes and help foster a self-organizing and high-performing team culture.
• Promote engineering excellence and disciplined delivery practices.

7. Technology Exploration and Innovation

• Continuously scout emerging technologies, methodologies, and trends in Artificial Intelligence, data engineering, and software engineering.
• Identify synergies across projects and introduce innovations that enhance product quality, efficiency, or performance.

8. Definition of Standards and Quality Frameworks

• Define enterprise standards, testing strategies, and interaction models for Artificial Intelligence microservices.
• Ensure that Artificial Intelligence deliverables meet high quality, security, and reliability standards.

9. Technical Consulting for New Initiatives

• Provide technical consulting and architectural assessments for new products during the pre-project or concept stage.
• Ensure strong alignment between technical feasibility and business objectives before project initiation.

10. Support for Information Technology Service Management

• Support Information Technology service management activities to ensure that all Artificial Intelligence services are delivered effectively, reliably, and in accordance with enterprise service requirements.

Position requirements:

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or another relevant discipline.

Professional Experience

• More than five years of experience implementing complex Artificial Intelligence microservice frameworks and enterprise-level Artificial Intelligence systems.
• Proven experience designing, integrating, and delivering scalable Artificial Intelligence solutions within modern software environments.

Technical Expertise

• Deep understanding of Artificial Intelligence design patterns, Machine Learning methodologies, statistical modelling, and Generative Artificial Intelligence techniques.
• Hands-on experience in applying agent-based frameworks and developing both single-agent and multi-agent Artificial Intelligence systems.
• Strong data processing knowledge for Artificial Intelligence microservices, enabling efficient and reliable data flow across systems.
• Experience with modern software development practices and microservice-based architecture.
• Strong expertise in:
  • Apache Spark using the Python programming language
  • Apache Kafka
  • Hadoop ecosystems
  • Big data storage formats and distributed data processing
• Demonstrated ability to deliver robust data processing pipelines suitable for large-scale Artificial Intelligence workloads.

• Experience and comfortable working in a matrix reporting multinational organization environment, being able to contribute effectively both to the local hiring organization and the remote domain functional leadership.
