Job Description

Get to Know the Team

You'll join a team that builds production robotics and autonomy systems for urban environments across Southeast Asia. We develop perception, planning, and control capabilities step by step, using safety evidence to guide each release. We focus on robust systems, quality code, and technical depth maintained within the team. We are a senior engineering group that values clean interfaces, reproducible development workflows, and systems that work in real-world conditions.

Get to Know the Role

As a Lead Simulation Engineer, you'll report into the Head of Engineering and be based in Grab One North Singapore Office. You'll lead the simulation platform that enables autonomy development and validation. You'll build capabilities across log replay, open-loop evaluation, and closed-loop simulation to help engineers test changes and catch regressions before they reach vehicles. You'll define system architecture, implement core components, and ensure the platform remains reliable, scalable, and integrated into daily engineering workflows.

The Critical Tasks You will Perform

  • You'll architect and maintain the end-to-end simulation platform used by perception, planning, and control teams, ensuring it remains fast to run and easy to debug during daily development work.
  • You'll design versioned, testable integration contracts between the simulation environment and the autonomy stack, maintaining these interfaces as the system architecture evolves.
  • You'll build reproducible pipelines for scenario generation, test execution, and results reporting, creating clear pass/fail signals and trend tracking for autonomy changes.
  • You'll develop and maintain physics-based models of vehicle dynamics, sensors, and urban environments to improve agreement between simulated and real-world vehicle behaviour.
  • You'll build curated scenario libraries that reflect Southeast Asia driving patterns and edge cases, using real operational data and ensuring reproducible replay capabilities.
  • You'll design distributed simulation infrastructure that enables large-scale regression testing across thousands of scenarios.
  • You'll work with Perception, Planning, and Control engineers to align simulation fidelity with the validation needs of each subsystem.
