About the Role:

As a CBRE Technical Manager, you will assist with the management of the team responsible for all mechanical operations, maintenance, communications, energy management, and workforce development programs for a facility, campus, or portfolio of buildings.  
 
This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems.  

What You’ll Do:  
 
  • Technical Expertise: Provide in-depth technical leadership in Building General M&E, ACMV systems, Process Utility Systems, and clean room environments, ensuring optimal system performance and reliability.
  • Team Management: Lead, manage, and develop a team of shift leads and technicians to achieve optimal performance, ensuring staff are trained, supported, and aligned with operational objectives.
  • System Oversight: Oversee the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of critical facility systems, including Electrical, Mechanical, Building Monitoring and Control, and Process Utility Systems.
  • Facilities Operations Centre (FOC) Monitoring: Ensure the FOC is managed effectively, with prompt response to Building Management System (BMS) and Fire System alarms.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement comprehensive preventive maintenance programs that reduce downtime and extend the life of equipment.
  • Emergency Response: Act promptly in emergencies, coordinating with internal teams and external contractors to resolve issues effectively and minimize operational disruption.
  • Documentation & Procedures: Develop, maintain, and train team members on Technical Playbooks, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs). Ensure accurate records of maintenance activities, compliance, and equipment are kept.
  • Subcontractor Management: Manage subcontractors according to company policies and ensure compliance with CBRE guidelines during project execution and maintenance tasks.
  • Health & Safety: Adhere to and enforce quality, health & safety, and environmental policies, reporting any breaches through appropriate channels and ensuring compliance across all operations.
  • Energy Efficiency & Sustainability: Develop and implement energy-saving and sustainability initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and align with company and client sustainability goals.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to integrate facility management services, ensuring a cohesive approach to site management.
  • Site Procedures: Be fully familiar with site-specific escalation procedures and incident reporting protocols to manage any operational disruptions effectively.
  • Ad-Hoc Responsibilities: Undertake additional duties as required by senior management to support operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Staff Supervision & Development: Provide formal supervision, monitor training, and conduct performance evaluations for the team. Lead recruiting efforts, assign tasks, establish schedules, and ensure team members are cross-trained to meet department goals.
  • Budget & Resource Management: Assist in developing and managing operating and capital budgets for assigned facilities, continuously improving preventive maintenance programs.
  • System Management: Oversee all building systems, including fire/life safety, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical issues, staying current with the latest technology and best practices.
  • Client & Vendor Relations: Maintain ongoing communication with tenants, clients, vendors, and the facility management team to ensure expectations are met and projects are executed smoothly.
  • Contract & Document Management: Facilitate the acquisition of new management contracts and maintain accurate as-built drawings and operational documentation.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations and client concerns with urgency, ensuring swift resolution and client satisfaction.
  • Leadership & Values: Lead by example, modeling behaviors consistent with CBRE's RISE values (Respect, Integrity, Service, and Excellence). Build consensus among stakeholders to reach mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Operational Problem-Solving: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve day-to-day operational challenges, applying both broad technical expertise and collaborative problem-solving skills.

What You’ll Need:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Facilities Management, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in technical services, facilities management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in the areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention preferred. 
  • Ability to guide the exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information, convey performance expectations, and handle problems.
  • Leadership skills to motivate team impact on quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the job discipline and department.
  • Expertise in building systems, including HVAC, Electrical, Mechanical, and Process Utility Systems.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to managing complex technical issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Extensive organizational skills with a strong inquisitive mind.
